Overview

I built a web-based AI-assisted tool to support the preliminary design of fiber-reinforced concrete floors based on Eurocode standards. The goal was to simplify engineering calculations and automatically generate technical documentation.

The challenge

Designing industrial concrete floors requires:
  • Correct load calculations
  • Material selection
  • Compliance with Eurocode standards
  • Technical drawings and documentation
These tasks usually require manual calculation and drafting, which takes time and can lead to inconsistencies.
The challenge was to create a tool that guides users through the design process and automatically generates structured engineering outputs.

My solution

I developed an interactive web tool with a conversational AI assistant.
Users can enter parameters such as:
  • Slab dimensions
  • Concrete class
  • Building type (warehouse or residential)
  • Applied floor loads
Based on the input, the AI assistant asks follow-up questions to clarify design assumptions.
The system then:
  • Performs structural calculations
  • Generates technical specifications
  • Creates floor plans
  • Produces saw-cut joint layouts
  • Provides calculation summaries
  • Displays a rotatable 3D floor model
The backend handles complex calculations and automated document generation.
One key feature is the automatic generation of CAD-compatible DXF files. The system creates structural drawings directly from structured inputs, removing the need for manual drafting.
All outputs follow Eurocode-based logic and are formatted clearly for engineering review.
